Per Sprock

I’m Per Sprock. My wife, our little daughter and I live in Essen, in the idyllic district of Margarethenhöhe.

I’ve been keen to learn more about my own family roots all my life. In 2020 I started taking an active interest in genealogy and began searching for the ancestors of my parents and parents-in-law systematically.

Today, our documented family tree comprises more than 2,300 persons and reaches back to the 13th century. Besides the thrill of discovering previously unknown living relatives or learning more about my family's origins, I was especially fascinated by the detective work it takes to track down distant ancestors. My growing passion for the often-complicated research led to the idea to pursue genealogy on a professional basis.

Since 2022, I have therefore started working as a freelance heir investigator. I deal with probate cases in which neither the competent court nor the executor of the estate have been able to identify any heirs. In such cases, the inheritance would finally fall to the state and any rightful heirs would often not find out about their claim. Through my work I help the heirs assert their claim to the heritage.

Genealogical research requires not only special knowledge, but also a methodical approach, diligent organization and last but not least a lot of patience. My professional background - IT consulting in international project and process management - certainly helps live up to these requirements. In addition, my training as a mediator helps me balance interests and eliminate misunderstandings from the outset.
